What is my postcode?
Find the postcode for where you are now. Press the button to use your location and we list the postcodes nearest to you, nearest first. Or find it from the name of the town.
1. Find my postcode from my location
Your browser will ask first. If you say no, nothing is sent.
These are the postcodes whose centre points are nearest to you. The nearest is not always yours: if you are between two, yours may be the other one. A letter addressed to you will settle it.
Location works best on a phone outdoors. Indoors, or on a desktop computer, it can be out by a street or more.
2. Find a postcode by town, area or address

- You know the full addressRoyal Mail's postcode finder
We do not hold addresses, so we cannot turn a street address into a postcode. Royal Mail's finder does that. Our town pages cover England, Scotland and Wales.
What you get
- Up to five postcodes, the nearest first.
- For each one, the place it is in and how far its centre point is from you.
- A link to the full check for each: its council and MP, broadband, flood risk, prices, schools and crime.
A postcode's centre point is one point that stands for all the addresses that share it. The nearest centre point is usually your postcode, but not always.
What we do with your location
- It is sent to this site once, when you press the button, to find the nearest postcodes.
- It is not stored, and it is not linked to you or to anything else you do here.
- It is never put in a web address, so it is not in your browser's history.
