How we use it

Natural Resources Wales maps the risk of flooding from rivers, from the sea, and from surface water and small watercourses, for areas of Wales: each area is at high, medium, low or very low risk, the chance of flooding in any one year. NRW publishes the maps on DataMapWales as web services. When a Welsh postcode page is opened, we ask which of NRW's risk areas its centre point is in, one small question for each source, and keep the answer for up to 30 days. It is for the centre of the postcode, not each address: NRW says its risk is for an area, not individual properties, and its own check by postcode, linked from each Welsh page, looks within 10 metres of each building and explains each level.
